Protective brimmed face masks will be manufactured for health professionals in “Robotic Coding, 3D Modeling, Production-Skill” classes, which were established by Tüpraş in 30 secondary schools, located in 4 cities, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education. The classes, which officially opened in February, were redesigned by Tüpraş to manufacture protective brimmed face masks in order for the fight against Corona virus pandemic.
Brimmed face masks are manufactured with the support of 60 volunteer teachers in 30 schools and with the materials provided by Tüpraş in collaboration with Fundamental Education General Directorate of the Ministry of National Education. The target is to manufacture approximately 10,000 brimmed face masks in the first phase.
The first batch of masks, manufactured by volunteer teachers either in their homes or in the classes by using 3D printers and materials supplied to the schools for the project, started to be delivered to Provincial Directorate of Health by authorized representatives of Tüpraş. It is also planned to continue to manufacture these face masks, depending on the requirements as well as the development of Corona virus process.
İbrahim Yelmenoğlu, General Manager of Tüpraş, said, “During these difficult days, we, as the leading company of Turkey, act in parallel with our responsibility to be a corporate citizen. We rapidly transformed our “Robotic Coding, 3D Modelling, Production-Skill” classes, which we established in 30 secondary schools in 4 cities, where we our refineries are located, in collaboration with our Ministry of National Education in order to produce brimmed face masks for health professionals fighting against the pandemic at the cost of their lives, thanks to the support of our volunteer teachers. I’m very pleased that approximately 10,000 masks will be delivered to health professionals as a result of this project. As a company believing that unity and solidarity is the key to achieve success in fighting against the pandemic, we see this volunteer work as a bridge of solidarity between the youngsters that will build the future and the ones who raise those youngsters and ensure that the entire society have a healthy life.
I also would like to state that this project, which is a part of “We will recover” project initiated by Koç Group, our parent company, is not only a support of Tüpraş and our volunteer teachers for the fights against the pandemic, but also an appreciation for our health professionals. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank representatives of the Ministry of National Education and all our esteemed teachers.”
“We continue to produce for our country with our endless energy”
Yelmenoğlu added, “In addition to our contribution to the National Solidarity campaign initiated nationwide in order to fight against the pandemic, we have also provided support to several public institutions and organizations. Our priority in these days is to protect the health of our employees at the highest level by taking all necessary measures and to ensure continuity of our production by uninterruptedly meeting energy requirements of our country. It is highly important to supply energy to every corner of our country since it is the main input for overcoming any problem. As a corporation with strategic importance in meeting energy requirements of our country, we consider the maintenance of continuous production as a national responsibility. I sincerely believe that we will overcome these difficult days in solidarity and collaboration and we will reach healthy days again and recover soon.”
